“From little seeds grow mighty trees”

Welcome to Caitlin Johnson Occupational Therapy. We are a paediatric Occupational Therapy practice based in Plumstead, Cape Town.

Using evidence-based therapeutic intervention, we strive to promote independence and assist children to reach their full potential in all aspects of their development and across all environments in which they live.

Children learn through play. Our approach is play-based, child-centred and family-focused, and is thus individualized to the child’s, and the family’s specific needs.

We love working as part of a team and believe in a holistic approach.

ABOUT YOUR THERAPIST

Caitlin is a passionate Occupational Therapist, with a special interest in paediatrics. She has a playful nature and a meticulous work standard. She is especially passionate about Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, developmental delays, learning difficulties and early childhood intervention.

She graduated at the University of the Free State and completed her community service year at Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town where her love for children really ignited. She has previously worked as a specialist paediatric OT in the United Kingdom, and also had a successful paediatric OT practice in East London for 3 years.

She has now relocated and has opened her practice in Cape Town. Caitlin has worked with paediatrics since leaving university and has thus had 8 years of experience within the field.

She believes in continuous professional development and is always eager to learn and broaden her knowledge and skills set. She is currently in the process of completing her sensory integration training.

Caitlin also has a great passion for babies and is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).

What is paediatric OT?

Paediatric Occupational Therapists help children develop a range of functional skills in order to reach their full potential and thrive in their daily routines and activities. These underlying skills enable a child to participate optimally in appropriate occupations within their environment, such as playing, learning, handwriting and getting dressed.
